    Default Rigging

Anyone used one of these to mount a laser on the side of some vertical trussing? http://www.globaltruss.com/ProductDe...=9&Category=16

Id like to use the one above to save some money if it can support 40lbs well (says 550lbs but i hardly believe i could do pullups from that thing)

If that wont work i could use these, but they are a bit more expensive http://www.globaltruss.com/ProductDe...=9&Category=16

    Thanks

I use something similar, but I make my own as it's cheaper and gives you a proper 50mm bar.

I buy the Global Truss F31 1 metre single bars and cut them in half. I then get a Global Truss half coupler with half spiggot end and fix it on the end.

I should add that these are the most amazing pieces of rigging hardware you'll own. they go with me to every job, and they've made hanging some stuff sooooo simple, and I've found I win a lot of brownie points with lighting crews when they struggling with certain placements. Pretty much the physical manifestation of the mythical 'sky hook'...

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

do you have a picture of one of your lasers hanging from this? Do you get any flex?

    here's another brand.
you can select different length as needed.
ive never used them, but have seen them used for laser projectors before, with no issues noted.

I'll see if I can find any pics, I've probably got nothing up close though.

Flex? Where would the flex be? The truss spiggots and taper pins really don't allow any flex and it's a piece of 2mm alluminium walled 50mm tube!

The weak point is likely to be the hex head bolt that fixes the coupler to the bar, and from the pictures this looks to be the same bolt in both products (although yours might be a funny non-metric weird thing... )

The 2 greens are on those bars here

This says it holds 150lbs That's pretty nice. And the price tag of 40 bucks for a 2foot section is pretty good. I still think I would prefer the GT brand. But these looks nice too.

Those are cool but only 1" thick pipes. Most standard truss is 2"

No idea, 15kg or more in some bits

But we use those bars for all sorts, moving heads, strobes, etc and we've never once given a thought to how much weight it actually is because unless you're hanging big cement blocks off them, you're not going to have any issues.

How much are you planning on hanging off them? The half coupler with the half spiggot and bolt is rated at 500kg, and although I'm unlikely to ever get close to that, I'd say unless you're doing something particularly stupid/extreme, you really aren't going to have issues.
