    Default Memorabilia from the '80s

LaserWorld was the name of another laser show that hit the state fair circuits. Parents of friends sent this to me when this show came to the Tulsa, OK state fair in 1978.

Thanks for posting that flyer. I remember those guys. I saw the LaserWorld dome show (and went to Dreamstage in Dallas). People ate this up back then. Just the word "laser" had a lot of mystique and anything we did would be written about in the paper or shown on the TV news. Everyone invented their own equipment and wrote their own software and were very secretive about it. I stayed up on what my competition was doing with lasers. We spied on each other. It was a small community and we all either knew or knew of each other. $10K was about the minimum we charged for a laser show. Laser gear was so expensive to acquire and maintain that there was very little competition. It was a great time to be in the business. Audiences are a LOT more jaded and cynical now - not as easily impressed. Laser gear from China is so cheap now that anyone can buy in. I guess the good thing about today is that laserists share their designs, projectors, connectors and file formats, laser gear is relatively cheap and there are a lot more choices. It's a great time to be a laser hobbyist! My hat is off to all of you who are today successfully making a go at it professionally!

Photonbeam, very, very well said. You described the era precisely. Whenever I think back on it...well...forgive me for saying it, but I just beam.

    Default Memorabilia Cont'd

Here is the Laser Presentations business card I've had in my old files. The discoloration on the sides are from having the card taped to a Rolodex card.
If any one would like the datasheet explaining was a Rolodex card is, let me know.

I worked with them when they did the install at the Columbus Science Center of the laser Christmas tree. I was a tech there while attending college. If I remember his name was Dennis Rauch. Maybe his brother or a nick name?

Tell me more about these burritos.
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
