Default Military lasers, mining lasers, pulse lasers....

    I'm talking Elite: Dangerous!

Don't know how many gamers there might be here or even OLD gamers, but wondered if any of you were playing the beta, or planning on playing the game upon full release?

We've got beta2 release coming up and I'm just in the process of getting an EDTracker for controlling the cockpit look with my head. It's really starting to look GOOOOOD!

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

30th anniversary in a few days of the original BBC Elite release. They're even giving away a free copy of the original with a BBC emulator to beta backers.
The new one is epic, and a total return to the original ethos. A lot of retired gamers I know are returning for this one.

Wow, it's been a long time since I played that! Going to have to look that up. Remember matching space station rotation to dock?

    I just looked it up.
I see its for the commodore 64 as well so I could play it on native hardware.

Man when I read the thread at the part of mining lasers I just got memories of all the space games I played like eve online and the list goes on.

PJ Elite was the grand daddy of all those games like Eve, but IMHO never bettered. Now they're just bringing it all up to date 30 years later. The original was BBC then later C64, Spectrum, etc

Just looking at the game trailer on the official site, the graphics have come a long, long way!

Not sure it's my type of game but certainly looks interesting.

It is beautiful, the sound is stunning too. Has feel like a combination of Star Wars meets Bladerunner meets 2001 Space Odyssey.
