With cheap, tiny, multiwatt pointers - it was only a matter of time before some idiot pulls this dangerous little stunt. I think it has already happened at soccer matches with what looked like 532nm. This incident looked like 520nm to me.
"The NFL is attempting to shed light on who allegedly shined a laser pointer at Buffalo Bills players at Detroit's Ford Field last weekend."

To be honest, they let him off too lightly. This is just the start. The fact that this got media coverage just fanned the flames. The fact that they only caught him because of a twitter post teaches people that they could probably get away with it.

It would be better if the media could report that he got jail time, huge fine and there's a $10K reward if you see someone doing it and report it. That would be the end of that.

It's happened in Europe far too many times at football (soccer) matches.

    Numerous others.

You can only thank the distance from the pitch I think and the divergence for the avoidance of injury.

"The crazy part about it is Beslach would have gotten away with the cruel act if he simply did not brag about it on Twitter." Yep, that's just what we need to inform the public of. Already, I can hear the gears turning in the idoits' heads out there. Drop a grand on the big game and then interfere with a laser pointer.
