Take all the GSI products, stamp 1970 to 1976 on them. Done.

It seems DT and PT are started from people who used to work for a china national company doing military work. The founder of each company know one another and both split off after the china military company split off or broke up. Heard this one of these guys who split off. Worth knowing? no but part of the history.

Back in the mid to late '70's when everyone was using General Scanning G100PD or G120PD's, I tried out a set of scanners from England called "Mini-Max" I believe, and made by an English company, "Cambridge" (but not the same as CTI). I was working with The Who - they were experimenting with the scanners and sent me a set to evaluate. They were extremely fast for that time, using what appeared to be chart recorder galvos with TINY mirrors (like 1 or 2mm). There were optics to focus the laser beam on the tiny mirrors and optics to recollimate the beam. The scan angle was very small though and the mirrors couldn't take much power. They never really caught on. Does anyone remember these? I thought I saved some documentation but haven't found it yet.

Those tiny mirrors by "English Cambridge" were copies of a Honeywell "Pen Mirror" galvo used with UV light for chart recording on photosensitive paper. That Honeywell mirror and a proportional valve actuator from 1948ish (four pole crossed field) designed for valve control were the basis of what caused GSI's founders to decide there had to be a better way.

This weekend I might dig up some history stuff we archived long ago and post it here, but I have amps to tune, cables to make, and a job to hunt for....
