Simply put, I don't have the upload bandwidth. Else I would post videos.

    Steve,

Then at some point Mohamed is going to have to come to my mountain. You could script a few tutorials and we could add some very useful/interesting/fun material to the growing, online video library.

... my actually most urgent project is to develop a new sort of additive manufacturing head, that can be fed with any material, that a laser can melt ... and this is virtually any

And then some more projects, related to my day-work ...

Another fascinating and educational video! Enjoyed it very much, thanks for sharing! My favorite part is seeing the lasing time as a hump in the photodetector output signal. Very cool!

One question: have you tried twisted pair leads for your photodetector connection? Not sure what the impedances you're working with there, but it might help eliminate some of the induced current noise.

No, I did not and that would probably help. I recently picked up a low cost biased photo diode from Thorlabs that I am running to the OS via a coaxial cable and remoting as well with a short fiber. The signal is a lot nicer, but interestingly, the small bump from the trigger can still be detected. That is useful as well in a pesky kinda way.
