Default 4 Channel 5V Relay Module Board

ok got one of these off ebay but am struggling to get it to work as expected.

added 5v to vcc, then linked that 5v to in1 and then gnd to gnd

power light comes on but cant trigger the relays.

    why?

Red LEDs do not light too? The circuit is very simple and it has no chance of "not working" ))

Now once again looked that circuit, they use a pnp transistor, it needs 0V to switch. At 5V they "closed" and the relay is not switched on.

    andy
might be relevant , might not be , bear in mind i cant figure it out looking at board :-)

but earlier in year i bought board with timer that activate relays , it drove me CRAZY !!! , the
chingelse instructions was impossible to understand

anyway it turned out you had to supply the board with permanant power , both + and - , and this is isolated it supplies
power to ACTIVATE the relay but not "through" the relay , so dont expect if you connect power to the board that it will power
anything , thats isolated only to "activate" the relay switch

and then ONLY run a - OR a + through the relay switch , so you would connect all the ( - ) together outwith the board
and run the + through the relays , the relay is basically just a switch only , interrupting the power to item

rookie error i know , luckily i only spent 4 months trying to get it to work :-)

thats likely no help whatsoever but it was good to share :-)

Some ideas , links that may set you of finding solution

SO you want to control 240v appliances with an arduino/rasp pi ?

you connect permanant 5v supply to POWER the board

you interuppt your appliance power ( 250v) on the + polarity and
keep the (-) running stright through

The arduiono / pi , supplys the voltage signal to ACTIVATE the
    relay based on your control

it this what your upto ?

Thats very cheap for what you get. I paid more than that for a single 5V 4 way relay for my stage box.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.
