    Default China's Laser Weapon

Popping balloons is old hat... Now China is using lasers to take down pesky little drones!

Only issue is, the optics are mounted on thin bent aluminium held in place with hot glue.

Would be interesting to know the exact wavelength of the laser... and choose the right paint for your little drone!

Wonder if mutliple coats of different wavelengths resistant paints would work?

Burn off the top layer and then the correct one protects the frame?

This is a silly report. The reporter, who probably has a limited understanding of the technologies involved, should have interviewed some western developers of similar systems and determined if this is significant. It sounds like a press release. The US army has had a 30kW fiber laser mounted on a Humvee for months and may have already upgraded this to 60kW. This system was designed for the same purpose as the CN system. I'll be impressed when CN SHOWS they have a laser that will take out the Humvee.

    Bit un-stealthy in sunlight though.

Plus if they were flying gold ones, I'd be shooting them down!

A nice sized FS mirror under the Multi Rotor comes to mind.

Who will be the first to mount a LPM to the underside of a drone and get a reading on that puppy!

BTW, I bet it mode hops.
