Bleen there, done that. More selling of the notion of holography rather than a real product.

For some reason I think that people aren't going to receive one after they pay…

Pulsed laser diodes into a spatial light modulator. Not a hologram as in the Princess Leia Starwars Concept. (which is not a hologram, either) More like a directed laser projection into each eye.

    Crowd funded:

Yeah, Right. Not a 3D in space image above the viewer. More or less a optical interferogram.

Really distinguished scientist of the Former USSR as the CSO.

Not so sure this is a great idea. Content needs a huge bandwidth, not easy to store.

Fundamental issue for non-scientists to understand: If there is nothing to scatter off in the air, light does not bend its path. No scattering, no volumetric 3D image in the classic sense. Bleen by definition cannot create the 3D scattering.

The "Princess Leia" scene in the Star Wars movie wasn't a hologram either. It was a movie special effect.

I know that, you know that. Hey, I'm on your side of this! :-)
I edited the post to reflect that.

When you can already get a lenticular monitor that does a similar thing?

This sort of thing does make me ponder the question of how much longer entertainment lasers are really going to be viable and remain of interest. I think with such rapid advances in technology and with computers and everything else, there is a certain level of "desensitization" for things that once made you go "wow". Crazy screen savers, Sharpy's and other new narrow beam lights, LED walls, 3-D advances in movies and television, heck even BEYONDS "Emulaser" feature - eye safe laser looking projections without a laser. Are we rapidly reaching a point to where "a laser show" is about as interesting and engaging as watching curling at the winter Olympics? It may already be approaching that in some areas of over saturation. Sounds like the Miami club scene is like that already. Vegas and it's excesses of technological "wow", what they're doing in Dubai, etc.
