No need to redact, you're entitled to your view about Metallica which was entirely reasonable. (I read it on email)

It's personal as it just depends how you visualise things. If there's a good beat or melody or both, I can usually visualise.

The trouble with rock is many songs have long periods of vocal led music where there's nothing to sync to. eg an Absolute Classic Song "Fortunate Son" by Creedance Clearwater Revival. The defacto sound track to practically every war film out there from the 60's. However, after the initial drum beats and guitar strumming, you have practically nothing but vocals for most of the song.

I can visualise to the songs above, but as I said it's personal. I also personally like Enter Sandman.

Is there any support for calling these shorts? If I paid money to see a "show" that lasted 5 minutes I'd be unhappy...

You could always create a play list in Beyond.

KT is a possibility. Telescope is one that might fit. The rest are too traditional which is what I am trying to avoid. I love scorps. Metallica can bite me. AC/DC is too old. The idea here is fresh. Toilet well....... Ahhh maybe won't say no but it has to grow on me for a while. I have to listen to it about 500 times to do the show.

I am going to start with these and see how burnt out I get by the end. Have to get my 3dsmax installation back up and running. I may port some digisynth abstracts as well. I will be ld2000 because that is what I know but will include things from other platforms. Might cleanup fireflies as well.

The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
    The Shins- New Slang

Ah graphics. I assumed you were doing beams. More scope then for vocal shows.

Not sure what falls in to your 'traditional' bucket, but some of the stuff from drastic fantastic is a little "rockier". Try Little Favours or I Don't Want You Now.

For something a little more "out there," look at Tiger Suit... in particular, try Madame Trudeaux or Come On, Get In. This album is hard to characterize. There is some quieter stuff as well, but it's... dark.

In the "girl with guitar" category, which may be too traditional / been-there-done-that, I think that white bird and the acoustic version of 'universe and u' have a lot of artistic potential.

That's all I can offer from that perspective. Whatever you end up doing... looking forward to seeing it next SELEM!

I'll look them over. My traditional bucket is like this: ac/dc, yes, pink Floyd, genesis, led zep, lynard skin, black Sabbath, scorpions, Metallica, white snake, triumph, ie all classic rock. If you have seen a show done by them I don't want to touch it. I'm also excluding slippery puppy, dead ken,...and the other older punk...Looking only for newer post 2005 somewhat off the beaten path. Kind of looks like I'm leaning west cost and northwest coast and indie now I think of it.

The Western States Motel-The restless sea
The Black Keys-I got Mine/The desperate man
The Raconteurs-Steady as she goes (but...I think I'm seen this as a show before)
    Beck-Cellphones dead
    Cake-The Winter

Or Maybe the entire Zappa-Joes Garage (but that's back in the classics taboo)
