    Default Correcting blue and green diodes at same time with prisms.

    I have recently been working on some multimode RGB's and wanted to show that it is possible to correct R and G the beams with the same set of prisms. I used optima 4mm lenses and editions prisms. The diode are m462 and 700mw greens from DTR. The corrected beams are within about 5% of the same size both at aperture and far field. The losses are arount 12% to get the beam to ~1.4mRad. I also set the prisms to get about 1.1mRad with the same losses. Pretty cool. Saves money and help make the module smaller too. Also, the mix of 462 and 520 is ethereal IMHO.

    That color !!! That color / colour is beautiful !!....Er....ah...To my " Golden Eye"...the colour is Cyan....see this Wiki ...

    490nm ~ 520nm.....so sez Wiki.....

    I am sure the " Gas Heads " will point out that this is basically the blue/green of an Argon...noth'in new !!....but..anyway...I do like the color !!!

    Then again...I am easily entertained !!! hahaha

    Very sexy color. Reminds me of an argon, save for the beam quality.

    Very nice idea, beautifull color. What about if wavelenght shifts on diodes due to temp? Cause 2 diferent wavelenghts thru shared prism...Could this change slighty output angles and loose perfect overlap FF?

    I had thought about this as a potential problem before I built it. After testing it I knew it wouldn't be an issue. If the beams are perfectly overlapped before the prisms the deviation after the prisms is only about 1.8mRad. So, 1.8mRad/ 60nm = .03mRad per nm. Not noticeable over the wavelength shift of the diodes.

    Shouldn't be a problem. Once the beams are aligned at some arbitrary temperature, the effect of temp deviation between the two should just decrease or increase the magnification, not the alignment and this should be VERY hard to detect. Nice and compact layout...good job.

    Hi Logsquared,

    I see the corrected red on module too, and the CV cyl is very near to collimator... In my red, I have to put CV cyl at 35mm aprox from diode collimator in order to obtain 5mm beam 0,92mrad (Dave's F2 & Dave's cyls)
    So, intrigued...please could you share specs for your red?
    -F on collimator
    -beam size
    -mrad
    -distance from diode to 1st CV cyl
    also where did you get this cyls? seems not from Dave
