Always lock mine even at home. Once lost a signal because it was a little loose and it started to come out diagonally. If there had been any cross contact or shorting of the pins there's always a chance it might have damaged the DAC or laser. My thinking is why take a risk for 10 secs extra work?

I have managed to unscrew a few of the projector side fixings upon removal though, which is a pain to replace often.

Try a drop or two of lock-tite on the threads inside the projector. Works like a charm!

I locktite all of my projector connection bolts/nuts. Saves a lot of hassles later.
