    Hi Norty,

Yes we have spoken on another thread and I followed all the advise, I never even took my last laser out commercially as a result and went out and spent the money on a very decent laser system that I'm really happy with. So many thanks for putting me in the right direction. As I said I know measurements have to be taken on site and have been made aware of the pitfalls. But before I go out and get the whole set of lenses, and only having the -d 6, I'm just trying to get a rough idea of what to expect, I have the power measurements, I thought that may help a little. Once my bank recovers from buying 2 lasers, I do plan on getting a power meter and going on some courses.

Don't forget, you don't need to have a full range of lenses. You 'can' use the -6 in all circumstances if you want to.
I understand you're a dealer for the Pangolin stuff so buying a -5 and a -4 lens shouldn't be too expensive either, and it'll be all you're ever likely to want. The -5 is a great all rounder in my experience.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

Thanks Norty, never mentioned we're Pangolin dealers here? Sure we are but wondering how you know that I based the revival of our business on advice from here and very happy to have been guided in the right direction. The laser we have now is freaking awesome... Very bright and crisp. Anyways, I know no one can really advise on the correct distances until we can measure for ourselfs, and in the meantime we scan above people heads. But I was hoping someone could throw me a bone here and just give some VERY rough ideas of distances for some of the lenses with the specs we now have.

Unfortunately, I think you're looking for answers I don't think people can give, which may be why you've not had any tangible responses.

Id give you a response if I had one but unfortunately I don't know enough to accurately predict how a beam of given specs will behave through the lens. The M2 property is quite significant here I believe.

yup, the Coherent LaserCheck is on the wish list alright and I'm working on learning how to do the calculations. I hear the ILDA are making some more apps available to help out with this also Thanks again for taking the time to reply to the post. The only folks so far to write back with an estimate with everything in the software on default said around 20 meters for this lens, and to refer to the chart Pangolin have provided. At the risk of sounding even more naive I must admit I'm not familiar with what the M2 property is.

Google for M2, or I think the safetyscan lens docs give an outline of it and why it's important for the lenses. It's a 'beam quality' sort of indicator as I understand it.

If you're stuck I have a LaserCheck and homebuilt power meter (Ophir head), & also live in Cork.
