This position is working for a great precision optics fab company. The location is in Auburn, CA. This is a lead position and requires minimum 6 years of precision optics experience. You will constantly communicate with a team of engineers.

Major Responsibilities:
- Design fabrication processes for producing precision glass optical components (5 mm to 300 mm), including lenses, mirrors, prisms, beamsplitters and similar precision components.
- Assume engineering responsibility for optics manufacturing and development projects, providing technical oversight for fab processes, tooling and fixture designs, metrology methods and risk assessment.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing by identifying and resolving process issues, training and supporting production personnel, conducting process design reviews, and leading the research and application of new process technology.
- Provide technical quote support by evaluating customer drawings, working with senior opticians to estimate costs, and reviewing with management.
Qualifications/Experience:
- B.S./M.S. in Engineering/Physics or equivalent, and minimum 7 years manufacturing experience with precision optics (5 mm to 300 mm).
- Extensive hands-on fabrication experience including grinding, polishing, centering, dicing and measuring precision optics.
- Proven product development & analytical skills, including ability to research and apply new methods in a production environment.
- Experience with continuous grinders and polishers, and computer-controlled equipment.
- Working knowledge of optical components and thin films, and their application in optical systems.
- Must have excellent organizational skills and be attentive to detail.
- Ability to work at a fast pace in a production environment with multiple projects and deadlines.
- Must be self-motivated, team oriented and possess strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
