Default Nice show found on FB.

Nice show but, I can't fathom how it's eye safe in any country. Stats were on Facebook. 11 Kvant projectors 1- 20 watt OPSL, 2 8watt OPSL and 8 Clubmax 3000's. 60 meters from the audience supposedly.

It's still something to aspire to though... I'm working on it!

meh, the brightness was impressive, laser choreography was not great... also some christmas music followed by carmina burana? wtf?

additionally I know you can't determine eye-safe from a video but if that show didn't exceed MPE by several orders of magnitude then, well, I dunno man, those static beams looked really bright

I confirm, it's 100% not safe as the front of the audience was greatly at a shorter distance than 60 meters ! Take a look on Google Maps, where the event happened : https://www.google.fr/maps/@50.61527...84UenGlwJQ!2e0

But this isn't the worst of their shows... take a look at this one : http://youtu.be/ciu3HX96jYk

Audience is only at 6-7 meters from 2x 8W low divergence green OPS, 1x 20W RGB and 2x 8W blue (they advertise they only have kwant projectors but these blues come from OPT, shhhh it's a secret ). And no beam attenuation map.

Here too (don't be fooled by the "6W" description, they only have 8W green in stock) : http://youtu.be/HHT_uXI3VK0?t=1m
Only 3-4 meters distance. Poor people .

This company started by November or December, 2013. It has been launched by 3 guys who don't have any technical knowledge (they were event planner before). As they already have a main work (job in an other area), they do laser like a kind of hobby with money for lasers coming from the first job. I personally have nothing against that.

However... these fuckers gave some hiring offers here in Belgium for 1x 20W RGB, 2x 8W OPSL and services for 3-days for 1250 € .

They just kill the market and the eyes of the audience.

If someone start to tell them it's not safe and price are too low, they only reply "you have nothing to told us, we use kwant laser" ...

Isn't that highly illegal though? Why are they not sued out of business yet?

MIIKKKLLLL. I feel your pain (I'm also in Belgium). This is the kind of problem that will solve itself. It's pretty annoying when it's happening close to you, but think of this:

    • What happens if one of their lasers breaks? They obviously don't have the knowledge to fix it themselves, so it's going to cost them.
    • What if they have more jobs then they can handle between the 3 of them? They will have to pay someone while they didn't charge for this person.

They will fail eventually, but in the meantime, it's bad news for you.

If there is anything we can do to speed up this process, of course we should not hesitate to do so. Feel free to PM me to discuss this further ...

I think too. What can we do ? Nothing, as we are in Belgium with no existing laser safety rules.

I am open to your advices if you have some.

They just bought 8x Clubbmax 3000. Of course a laser can break, but money (or related extra-costs) doesn't seem to be a problem for them. As I said, they do that as a kind of hobby, with professionnal equipment. Instead of spending money to play golf, they prefer to kill the Belgian/French market.

What are you thinking at in the meaning "speed up this process" ?

Is not gross negligence that can easily lead to injuries illegal, regardless of whether or not lasers are involved?

If there are any workers present eg bar staff etc in the club of any outdoor marshall or safety officials etc then there are laws discussed in the link below

    https://osha.europa.eu/en/legislatio...f-5-april-2006

It seems that if a staff member eg someone collecting cups in the club were exposed this would be illegal under european law.

I find it very odd that belgium has no specific regulations for lasershows.

    Cheers Mickey

    1. Here is an other video of the same open air show, event from Brad's link video (happened last Saturday) : https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10204926119620172

You can hear at 0:08 the cameraman saying "ohh mes yeux!" in french, translated in english "ohh my eyes !". The cameraman is at the back of the audience, some people are greatly at a closer place to the lasers.

From 1:22, take a look at those freaking hot beams... Maybe 1.5-2W for each projected nearly-static beam from the two 8W OPS lasers !!!

As there is no other ambiant light (like moving heads, led screens or other stuff), the pupil is dilated to the maximum, making it even more dangerous.

    2. The day before the open air show (last Friday, I already shared a video from this event), the official guy hired for the aftermovie recording killed the CMOS sensor of his professional camera ! https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10204644030675934
From 0:43, you can see a line of dead pixels. Of course, we can reasonably assume that if the sensor is killed, eyes don't like the exposure too.

Do you really know what I am afraid of ? An accident will come (if this didn't happen already) and lasers will simply by forbidden in Belgium or worse... in Europe.

@Flecom : Kvant heatquaters are not responsible of the mistakes of their clients, and I understand that. They are only happy to sell XX XXX€ laser stuff and make money

@Grix : Of course, yes, but who to tell ?

@Mickey S UK : thanks for the input, wasn't aware of that.

The questions now are "Should I send a letter to the health minitrer ?" "Should we start an European petition ?" There aren't dedicated laser safety officials here.

-> My fear is if I send a letter, government could simply totaly forbid the use of laser for entertainment purposes, for precautionary principle .
