I would imagine that some individual posting on a forum would be ignored as common sense would dictate. Lawsuit culture seems to dictate that's a first response in the US as you've ably demonstrated here.
I'm sure I could go on a forum here and make a rash claim about a pharma company safe in the knowledge I'm not going to land a big lawsuit.
Perhaps it's not the system I'm talking about, it's the culture that keeps all those lawyers amply employed.

When I saw this thread lowering to this I took my post down. The topic was oriented to discuss about this product.. questioning a product is only the more reason to showcase a product honestly.

But here is an quote from Brian from Lightwave:

So not exactly variance free yet.
I removed my post because mentions of slander and libel while I clearly showed concern in the product rather then everything and I wouldn't name sources out of respect of others at my own risk and when it lowered to this point of talks of libel only I do not want to discuss in this thread anymore so I'm removing everything.

I also never stated my things as facts: "hearing" something doesn't mean it's true.
Last but not least: I do not fall under the US law as I am not located in the United States.

I suspect he is less concerned about any legal issue than he is about perceptions on the forum. Peer critique and loss of face is a much more real issue tbh.
i find it laughable that you think he'd delete because of the threat of legal action based on a frankly tenuous statement on a forum of people who are mostly unlikely to ever use the product anyway. And so I come back to my original point about lawsuit culture and how much it really means to those outside of the US.
How this ever came to be about legal threats is simply beyond me.
