yep it`s pretty dead now.
I did the same mistake on some cheam china galvos also. The Galvo made some unhealthy sounds and died. Did some investigating, and found out the shaft and mirrir was stuck. Since it probably already was fubar, i decided to use some force and tried to loosen the shaft and put it back in the original position. And guess what it got loose, and worked perfectly after that.
Check if the shaft and mirror actually can be moved with the tip of something. If it is stuck, you have more or less nothing trying to loosening it.
