The Startech is the only one that is guaranteed to work. Also, I don't think that 6ft is enough of a distance

Startech do 2 extenders, a 'cheaper' one that you've identified above which uses a proprietary protocol, and also a more expensive one that will run over a gigabit network (or their own protocol)
