EDIT: SOLD / Donated.
Hi,
I haven't posted on the forum for a while, but I've been meaning to sell my Multi-Line Argon for some time now...
I bought it on eBay about 2-3 years ago, as I'd never had an Argon laser before, and wanted to try it with some galvos etc.
The seller said that the whole lot was removed from a lab, apparently from an "ABI Prism" DNA sequencing machine.
So, it would have been used in clean-room environment, and likely run at quite a lower power.
The laser head, PSU, and Dayton blower are all in very good condition.
(The PSU was manufactured in December 1998, and the laser head was made in December 2003, so it's one of the newer examples.)
There are a few paint chips on the laser head though, which were probably from when it was removed from the sequencer.
I also built a controller for it out of a nice hand-held Hammond case.
The switches are for Current / Light control, and two change the LCD between Current and Power display.
According to the in-built power meter, the head is outputting just over 70mW at full power.
I did have a quick look under the end cap when I bought it, and the hour meter was showing almost exactly half-way (so around 5,000 Hours nominal service life).
I've powered it up for about 30 minutes or so every few weeks, as I heard it helps keeps the laser healthy.
Sadly, I just don't have the space for it any more, so I thought I'd offer it for sale here first.
I'm looking for offers in the region of £180 for the laser, PSU (with two keys), controller, and blower.
(an older 2214-25ML head and PSU just sold on eBay UK last month without a blower nor controller for £200. )
I would maybe consider shipping it abroad if the buyer pays the costs / tax etc.
These photos were taken on Saturday (30th May)...
I shot a quick impromptu vid of it in action when I first bought it...
(apologies for the "tape burning" - it was merely to demonstrate the output power. lol)
Please PM me if interested.
I'm in Devon btw.
I may also have a smaller Showa Optronics GLG3135 Argon + PSU for sale soon.
The head was made in Jan 2009.
It doesn't have an in-built power meter, but I would estimate it as doing around 40-50mW (based on the brightness and burning power of the JDSU etc.)
Thanks,
OzOnE.
