Those cheap chinese 301 lasers

About a month ago I purchased a single laser 301 532nm unit from Gearbest, just to see what it was capable of. And I gotta say, I'm pretty amazed by the brightness of these things. I can now imagine why aircraft are being pointed at so frequently. Because these damn lasers put out like 60-70mW and you can get them for only 7.5$ with free shipping. Hell, my package didn't even get opened at the customs regardless of it clearly saying LASER ACCESSORIES. Oh come on. What will we have in five years from now for the same 7.5$, 1W 445nm's?

yeah I personally own 3 working ones and one it would shut down but the seller replaced it, and the second i killed trying to use in a projector, also I would HIGHLY recomend putting an infrared filter filter on it, with a little bit of solvent in the threads of the top part you can unscrew it and put a filter in it even though i don't pick up much with my equipment, taped to a pole and aimed at a hexagon mirror it makes for neat effects at a camp fire, i terminate on a tree


Now I do not support these being banned (as some would want) but should not be given it to a child and keep the key switch off

it's other use is for stargazing in northern Michigan, it's a lot easer to use a pointer of these power levels for that, and it is in an area that we don't see air traffic

One thing i have forgotten to mention that my crystalaser brand units throw off so much IR that it over loads the camera when i take the cover, they use a pump diode thats like a C-mount but mounts horizontal and fires forword, held in by a center screw and have tones of ir spill
