Need some help planning/building RGB scanner

I'll check the rating on the fuses tomorrow, I dont have them in front of me now.

I ended up shorting the first and second pin on the notch filter rather than working with the pot. As explained here:

I heard that the notch filter is more trouble than its worth anyway.

Ok, so I got my FB3 controller today! I'm excited. however, I have a few questions. First of all i have a power adapter that is rated at 4.5 volts, however, when I meter it I get just under 5volts (what the FB3 needs) so I figure the FB3 controller will be fine if the voltage is slightly under 5v?

It sounds like your power adapter is an unregulated one , i doubt the FB3 will like running off unregulated power. We use open frame switching psu's. I suggest you do the same We use these ones, they are nice little supplies, and have extra rails to run extra analogue electronics to boot: http://www.xppower.com/orderPriceLis...&lang=US&gri=2

Regarding the voltage. The FB3 should have as close to 5v as possible on the board(there can be a substantial voltage drop in the ribbon power cable/micromatch plug) A absolute minimum voltage is 4.75v(>4.9 recommended)

I've been keeping a close watch on the power supply for the FB3, its been reading a constant 5v. Either way, I would like to get what you were talking about, how much does one of those power supplies cost?

On another brighter note. MY SCANNER IS UP AND RUNNING!

I've been spending a lot of time on the PL FTP site, downloading ild files, so far its a blast, I cant wait for my Marconi Red 400mw module (it'll be a few more days before I can order it...).

I'll take some pictures soon, and post them, I'll also need some input on how to tune the scanners correctly. I get most images to display correctly, but I am having a few issues with retrace lines and blanking.

I've got a question for anyone who is familiar with ShowRider - Designer. I was wondering if it were possible to add the audio into a track. That way I can match beats using the wave as a reference. I can also play it together without any sync problems. If you could let me know!

Ok, I just sent Marconi my $ for a MaXYZ module, I'm really excited. I should get it on Thursday or so. But in the mean time I've got some pictures for you... Nothing too special, but I thought that the Magnifying glass /ant image was pretty cool.

I am going to turn it into an animation as soon as I get some free time, and once I understand DRAW3D a little better.

So just an update for everyone, I have the Marconi Module, it's amazing!

Right now I am just waiting for my dichro mount to arrive. I should get it tomorrow, I'm excited! Today I am going to do a bit of work cleaning up the entire setup, finding new ways to organize it all.

I've got a few questions regarding the safety of the unit, everyone that uses a shutter, what type of shutter do you use? Also for those of you who have CDRH compliance, what type of switch do you use for interlocks? I've got my electrical layout for all of the interlock switches, and what needs to be Normally Open or Normally closed etc.

Regarding the shutter - many people, including ourselves use GM20 style actuators. These are 'springloaded' and return to the same position when unenergized. Other options you have include a spring loaded/gravity return solenoid. I think i saw the spring loaded solenoids on ebay a while ago, haven't checked since.

You will also need a key switch - the key must only be able to be removed in the off position.

Interlock switch - i would suggest that a microswitch with a spring loaded lever would be a good choice.
