Good luck with that Mliptack. (What does your handle stand for? -its hard to pronounce out loud hehe -kidding) --hope you get your package soon.
Anywaze, my new thread didnt work out ,(probably shouldnt have done that anyway) Just another quick question--rod lenses..
In the thing I'm building, the beam comes out of the diode/lens a vertical line, turns into a rectangle then a 1mm x 1 mm square at 4 1/2" from the diode/lens then begins diverging out into a horizontal rectangle then line.. Will a rod lens still do the trick? Its not diverging too bad..I mean for a 1 lens setup; 28mm x 1 mm rectangle (looks more like a 'line' to me) at 7 foot distance where the beam terminates at the wall. Wish I could remember that divergence formula...
    Thanx
    Steve

Well it seems that a concave lens with a doublet outide of that will suffice enough to add a bit of orange to the projector.. Just before popping the diode.. ouch .. I searched for an animated GIF with wings on money flying away but couldnt find one.. Allthat probably could. Myfault tho--had wires dangling and things shorting out.. pure stupidity.. but the price of laser research, I guess. I know I'm not the only one who's popped an expensive LD. I'm putting 'em in a jar as a reminder like Chuck does .
BTW- Chuck, after the damage was done I took a hacksaw and popped the top off--Its weird in there..Its like they got half the insides metallically bonded to the can.. dunno.. After the cryin subsided tho.. I got enough info to (I think) make a beamshow quality laser module, (one, that is--I aint going into business tho- it's too risky and expensive-heh)
I was told by the Mitsi rep that they're going to release a capless version
So.. Mitsu's going topless...oooh how sexy

Sorry to hear that... Get well soon steve-o.

I'm a bit paranoid with LD's now... years ago I popped a pair of 40mW 635nm diodes within minutes of each other. Shame I had to learn the first lessons on £400's worth of diodes, but I did learn

    Thanx P1t,
I feel kinda sick, but I think I've learned my lesson. The next driver will have a REAL long leads to the LD and be epoxied-potted with NO exposed electronics . Either that or- I think I'm gonna attempt the housing/module with the ps inside the case w/ sliding fixable optics for the final deal. I need to have a red-orange and 2 blue argons going for the 'block-party'-kegger in May. And the green too in there of course.. The zener was shorted though and should have protected it.. Damn.., but I digress..
Happy C'mas Eve Y'all really.. no sweat.. mellow yello- orange ..
    hehe...
I need a Santa thingy, Aaron.. are you out out of town or something?
How can I put a beard on this smiley... ok wait a min....

Hi steve-o sorry to hear about your diode mate, if its any consolation in my eagerness in the past iv done things like that and not just with LD’s I have learnt the hard way, but in doing so it has made me very cautious which is a good thing. Nowadays I triple check everything which makes things a bit tedious sometimes. I hope this did not put a downer on Christmas for you and I hope you can resolve the situation with Mitsubishi. All the best Paul

Thanx Man, no sweat.. I've blown $300 in worse ways than that.. It just make me all the more eager to put 2 of the 636 diodes in the next project with the BS cube from Bridge.. (very cautiously, of course).. At least it wasnt ESD that killed it....

    Cool

    Hey, "thankslaser":

Why are you spamming this thread? If you want to promote your business, you should do it in the buy and sell forum, not here.

So as I am sure all of you know I have been doing a lot of work on my projector. There was a thread a while ago (Cant find it now) about FB3 cases. Well I found a nice case that was used in a curtain control that I purchased at a surplus store. Well Guess what fit perfectly inside of it?

I still have some finishing work to do with it. Like the 5volt input plug etc.

    Smile

Niiiiice! Is that a metal case? (It actually looks like it's enamel-coated.?.)

Did you cut the slots, or were they already there? More to the point, can you get any more of those cases? There might be other FB3 owners that would be interested in such a case...
