pioneer plaque ID tags (SELEM)
hey guys,
i've been laser engraving little pioneer spacecraft plaque tags and it occurs to me that the laser community might also like them. they're perfect if you or your luggage gets lost while on interstellar travel. the plaque was flown on the pioneer 10 (1972) and pioneer 11 (1973) spacecrafts.
i'm making them on my homemade laser cutter.
and here's a photo of carl sagan posing with the original:
and on the pioneer spacecraft:
the plates are metal, 3.5 inches by 2 inches x .020 thickness with .125 holes (8.9cm x 5.1cm x .6 mm) in the corners.
they're really designed to be bolted to things, but i've had a number of people ask for engraving on the back, and i'm happy to do that.
my first priority will be getting a batch ready for selem where people can just hand me cash (or lattes) and i don't have to deal with shipping and paypal.
if you're interested in picking one up at selem, just post here so i can have a rough idea of how many i need to make (i have 6 committed so far).
how about 5$ each for cash at selem. this doesn't cover my time, but who cares. selem is awesome!
if you want something custom on the front or the back, let me know. unless what you're asking for is totally outrageous, i can do 10$ for a custom front and 15$ for a custom front and back. i would need to know very quickly as selem is less than two weeks away and my time is stretched pretty thin!
see you all there!
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
