    Default TEC matching

    Looking at getting away from running TEC controllers, anyone have an idea of power dissipation needed for some of the average diodes so I don't have to experiment. Example what watt tec would be needed to hold a p73 diode driven around a watt at 80 degrees. Thoughts or a formula.

    Ideally i I just want to run the tec wired to power and then have it hold near room temp. I know this will vary with how much it is modulated but approx ballpark to be in.

    I'd pick something that would pull about 4W from the diode and can maintain 10-30C below ambient at the available voltage. Then, insert resistors to drop the potential across the TEC and target your 80F goal.
