This old laser is a little special, as it comes from the first system to be used to vacuum weld pacemakers. It is a Spacerays model SRI made in 1972. The system it came from was decommissioned around 2011, and offered free for the hauling. I couldn't do it at the time, and still kick myself for it (but it WAS a room full of equipment!). Anyway, George Sohnle in Minnesota got the head and I finally made a reasonable deal with him for it. It's not the first laser I've bought from George.
Anyway, it's a whopper! Two linear lamps pump the 6 5/8" x 3/8" rod inside that cool, "steampunk" lookin' chamber at two pulses per second with 20 Joules per pulse. That's a lot of energy! It all goes out through an adjustable aperture on the left. The pump chamber lifts off the rod for fast and easy lamp replacement.
