    Flecom, that red looks like an alignment nightmare . Just a word on that module, the beam is 6.5mm which would be lost off the sides of conventional 7mm mirrors I am not mistaken? And at 2mrad, this is the kind of divergence where I predict it would become noticeable. My gut would point me toward a well-built quad with 5x5mm at 1.2mrad, but I have little experience with this trade off. Thoughts?
    yes but it's 5 freaking watts... a quad would be what, 500mW? maybe 1W if you do dual quads after a PBS cube or something

    You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

    I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

    @Norty ....exactly
    @Humphry <1 mRad is a fairly tight beam (not counting Gas tubes). especially for RED!
    You seemed to be looking for "quality" and all ready built - plug&play and available to purchase ... the module is just that ...and Jors is PL member !

    Yeah for that price one could buy 4+ watts 637nm single mode. The build quality does look exceptional however. Just to be clear, the motivation for this thread is about optimising performance vs price ratio of laser projectors.

    I am going to have the opportunity to test 2.8W 638nm vs 1.5W 637nm in a few weeks and I will be sure to let you guys know.

    Be interesting to hear your findings.

    I've got some projectors here using a single P73 doing ~700mW and some other projectors using dual cubed P73 for ~1400mW and yet on a job over the bank holiday weekend they both looked to be exactly the same brightness, despite being double the power and having exactly the same beam properties.
