Question Any advice on buying a 3000€ - 3500€ range RGB laser projector?

Hi everyone. I would like to ask you for a 3000 - 3500€ range laser we would like to invest in.

We΄re planning to explore ILDA + some open source libraries and, as we΄re just programmers and not laser artist, we would really like to hear your thoughts and tips about buying a new RGB laser in this price range. We prefer to buy it from a company in Europe so we have the support if anything goes wrong as we΄re from Spain.

At first, we just want to use it in small music live-shows.

Any ideas, brands, companies we can have a look?

    Thanks!!

How about Cittadini lasers? They are located in Spain too and makes very good systems at affordable prices May be worth to ask them!

    Thanks! Gracias!
I΄m having a look at all of them. As we need to receive it this week, I΄cant wait for a Chinese company as Able Lasers. Also seems like Aten Lasers do not have a RGB projector yet, just separate kits.
    I΄ll keep on searching.
    Any other ideas?

    Really appreciate your help!

You'd be quite surprised how fast some Chinese companies can get a laser to your doorstep. I can get a projector from China via DHL faster than I can get a letter by US mail someone mailed me from a mailbox at the shopping center 1/4 mile from my office. If you suddenly need to receive it this week, these questions should probably have been asked before this so you can make an educated decision. Many better manufacturers start building the projector once your order it and it may take time before they ship.

Cittadini as mentioned by sbk may make the most sense since they're in Spain. I don't know much about them but, they come highly regarded. Doesn't mean you'd get it shipped to you any faster though. Kvant is another good choice in Europe. Aten had some pretty stuff but I haven't heard from them since that thread. RGBLasersystems is also in Europe but higher end.

Whereabouts in Spain are you based?
I could possibly hire you a projector if you are in a tremendous hurry and find you are missing a gig deadline!
It is currently near Alicante but will be traveling to BCN soon.
Shoot me a PM if you find you have a problem!

We are in Barcelona. I΄ve contacted Arctos and Able Lasers but not answer yet. Also CIttadini and Aten Laser with same results. I΄ll be patient. We are also thinkinga about hiring a Laser here in Spain and another one with same specs in NY (where we will do the show) but we are afraid of having technical issues and hardware incompatibilities. We would also like to explore some options like laser position, smoke machines and first of all, software. As we start almost from zero, we would need to test it for weeks and that would be expensive, I think.

    Hope I can find somethig!
    Thanks again!

    Hi Again,
At the moment, we think we just have 2 options:

    1. Arctos: A special offer because is a "customer-tailored housing design":

    3,8W RGB max
    RED 1000mW@638nm(Micro Diodenalaser)
    GREEN 1200mW@520nm (Micro Diodenalaser)
    BLUE 1600W@463nm (Micro Diodenalaser)
    ILDA Standard; dimensions: 220mm width; 170mm height; 175mm depth; High-Speed Laserscanner 40kpps@8° Ilda-Standard.

    2. Kvant (http://www.kvantlasers.sk/product/kvant-clubmax-3000):

    RGB :: 3.0W (680mW/637nm + 900mW/520nm + 1.5W/445nm) full colour DIODE laser module KVANT
35.000 points per second @ 8°. Maximal scanning angle 60° on both axes.

Arctos is for 4500€ and Kvant for 3000€.

What do you think about those 2 options?
Do I΄m missing some important information for making the choice? (I already know the answer to this one...)
    Are 5000kpps a noticeable difference?

what is your intended purpose for these projectors?

are you flinging beams around or doing graphics / abstracts / logos?

you really should also looking at beam specs.. size of the beams, divergence of the beams, and symmetry of the beams. your best output quality will occur when the beams all have the same characteristics.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
