Default Looking for Virtual DJ users

    Hi all,

Virtual DJ is the best-known DJ software on the market. According to their web site, they have more than 6 million users.

Several years ago, Pangolin started producing plug-ins for Virtual DJ. Up until now, those plugins have not been laser-related, but instead give Virtual DJ users things that they can't get anywhere else. Our plugins are completely free, and they playback virtually all forms of media, and also allow for the creation of interactive displays that can be used along with our SMS software. If you're an Virtual DJ user but don't know what I'm talking about, you can check out our plugins at www.PangolinPlugins.com.

Currently we're working on a plugin that will allow Virtual DJ users to play with lasers, along with our QuickShow or BEYOND software. We're looking for people to play around with the new plugin. If you're interested, please contact me by email (if you already have my email) or using our Contact form at www.Pangolin.com/contact (and choose William Benner as the contact person).

    Best regards,

    William Benner

PS: We realize that some people use Traktor, Serato, and others and everyone has their favorites. We went with Virtual DJ years ago purely because of the size of their user base...

I use Virtual DJ but, I use the free edition because I'm not a commercial DJ and I don't own a desk to go with it. If the plugins will work with it - which I think they should then yes, I'll be a guinea pig and send you an e-mail.

    Bill,

I use Virtual Dj for all my dj gigs. I play 4 or 5 songs and a video then I play a song/laser show from Beyond. Then I go back to Virtual Dj. About a year ago I had requested Alexey add a volume control to Beyond because I never knew if the Beyond show would be louder or lower than the song playing in Virtual Dj. With the added control it is much easier to go back and forth between VDJ and Beyond.

A plugin for VDJ / Beyond would be great. What are the features of the plugin? I have a 3 hour gig next Saturday & I will be using VDj & Beyond. I would love to try out the new plugin. Is the plugin for VDJ 7 PRO or VDJ 8. I have both and prefer 8, but it has not been that stable on my PC and I have been using 7 again. Hopefully I can get 8 running without issues soon.

If the plugin allows you to play a Beyond show or cue directly from VDJ that will be awesome for many reasons. First if you will be able to preview (cue) the laser show in your headphones and hear the volume level before you mix, you can adjust the volume fader in VDJ. Second, you won't have to ALT-TAB back and forth between the two programs which is great because I switch to Beyond to get ready to play the show but cannot see how much time remains for the song playing in VDJ.

I will email you in a few minutes.

Thanks for the emails and notes here guys! I just returned from California, and also finishing up a few projects, and then I will respond to your emails.

By the way, the plugin requires VDJ version 8. It does essentially nothing on VDJ7. And I think the beginner version (whatever it's called) doesn't support plugins...

I have the Home Version of VDJ8 and would be pleased to test.

BTW, I did some investigations with the VDJ support team to eliminate any confusion over supporting versions - the developer decides the level at which the plugin is supported. All versions except the LE version (and any other specialised bundled with hardware versions) support plugins provided the developer chooses to leave the plugin open to all versions.

So Home, Plus and Pro versions should all work with the Pangolin plugin provided Pangolin themselves haven't chosen to restrict it.

I use this software when I DJ. Virtual DJ Pro is the main oftware I'm currently using when I DJ. Just got my first laser projector and very interested in learning this awesome craft!
