    Default Laser Beam Collimator

Where to get a laser beam collimator that compresses a red beam from 6-8mm to 3mm Anyone knows? Links

    Thanks

Any chance of getting a shorter focal length lens in the diode/lens mounting? If so you'll lose less light.

Thats a nice collimator,. looks like it may work for that
Hopefully there wont be any undesirable effects to the spot size because of change of divergence..
Too bad they didnt announce the price, Buy one and let us know

Im looking at Thorlabs to qoute me on one to do the same thing.

This wouldnt be by chance a 635nm RED laser your wanting to correct?

There will always be. Probably the beam has been made so wide as to control the divergence...

There are some nice applets on the web showing "gaussian beam propagation" which applies to laser beams. Lets you play with lenses and shows how the beam propagates especially divergence.

Here is one of those applets

    edit:
Try making a very thin beam and watch divergence go out of control. There was another applet that I can't find anymore that lets you set some laser parameters that determine the relation between beam diameter and divergence.

    Yep, Theres always a trade-off
It all depends on what is acceptable for your application.

The response from spectronika.com. The people who actually make the thing.
laserfx is a reseller and I don't know if laserfx is in business anymore.

    info(at)spectronika.com

    Thank you for your inquiry.
Our collimator shrinks the beam 2-3 times. It works for wavelength 511-578 nm.

The price is 170 EUR EXW, VAT not included.

Discount for more than 10 pieces.

If you need the collimator for specific purpose, please tell so that I
can check whether it'll work and send you more details.

    Best regards,
    Alexander Ognyanov
    Spectronika Ltd.

I put a request for 635nm...will see if they cam make it.
