About 1000 miles of driving in just over 13 hours. I'm fried. Laying in bed still feeling like I'm at highway speed. Good news is the car is rock solid at 105mph which I did for a bit in North Carolina.)
PM Sent...
I saw it on saturday, was on the wall with the palm tree plastic
Adam has my sign and is going to send it to me. Thanks.
Also,
Thanks everyone for such a great FLEM I had an amazing time!
FYI for those who don't know. My Dad is now joining the ranks of laser owner. He saw the parts table Adam had set up and asked me how much it would cost to build a projector. That lead to me involving the rest of the group explaining the basics and costs of this hobby. Later Friday night after dinner my Dad and I left, Francis from Laser World brought in some projectors for sale at very low prices. The group quickly snagged them up except for one that was marked to hold for my Dad (I believe Adam did this). When we arrived Saturday my Dad was blown away by the thoughtfulness and excited that he could own one of these amazing pieces of equipment. I explained to him the difference between these projectors and the high end models most of us have, but he wasn't deterred. Later Saturday evening Francis brought more projectors and as to be expected Dad inquired about upgrading......it has begun. Lol!
He ended up going from a 1 Watt with 12-15 K scanners to 1.3 Watts with 20-23 K scanners & built in diffraction gratings.
I let him borrow my Riya DAC and set him up with Spaghetti. He is already talking about a Pangolin FB3.
Adam gave him am ILDA cable. Thank you again Adam.
Thank you everyone for helping my Dad get started in this amazing hobby. He was impressed with the knowledge & friendly attitude from everyone. He is now planning to attend SELEM in August.
The family and I got back to SC safe and sound yesterday afternoon after a 7-8 hour drive.
I had a blast! My thanks to Adam, DZ, Brad, and all the others who brought equipment and their latest toys to share / demonstrate with us. More importantly, many thanks to everyone for the good conversation and general fun.
I'll be there next year!
I'm sure by the time Bob gets to SELEM, he'll be able to lament with the rest of us how this darn hobby has fully depleted his expendable income. At least he'll have lots of good company!

"Help, help, I'm being repressed!"
Wow! What an amazing weekend!
I got back to Charleston around 3:30 PM yesterday. Thankfully there were no problems with the Jeep this time. I spent about 45 min just chilling out in the house before heading back out to unload the trailer. UGH. That took me 2.5 hours. Then I had to return the trailer to U-haul. When I was finished I was completely dead. Crashed hard and slept all night. When the alarm went off this morning I was so foggy I didn't know what was going on. Seriously considered calling in sick, but decided to tough it out. Still not 100% yet though.
Despite the fact that I'm dead-tired, once again the weekend wasn't long enough. I wish I had more time to chat with folks, and I also wish we had more time to complete a few more projects. As it was though, we did get that 3 watt 445 diode installed in Brad's Q-Beam, which was very cool. We also tested out Brad's DLP projector using the Emulaser feature in Beyond. Unfortunately, it appears that Brad's projector isn't quite as bright as the one we all saw a couple years ago when Bill brought his to FLEM.
Dkumpula showed off his glow-in-the-dark board and projector, and that was seriously cool! Also, Aron Bacs showed us the analog abstract software he's been working on. (If you follow him on Facebook then you've already seen some of what it can do.) DZ had two Z5 consoles set up, and several people got a chance to mess around with those over the weekend. LJK brought his new Club-Max 6 watt projector to show off, and that was really nice. (Burned a hole in the black drape across the back window though! Need to watch those static beams when the power is that high.)
Hank brought his singing tesla coil, and that thing was *GREAT*! I have a feeling more than a few people are now looking up the cost of the parts... I know I am. I've seen video before, but nothing beats seeing it live. I guess I just need to decide which one I want more: a replacement quad-copter or a solid-state tesla coil.
I've got a few pictures of the event that I will post later. And I'm sure several people have video to post as well. Can't wait to look at those. For everyone who missed the meet, you sure missed out on some fun. As best as I can remember, here's a list of all the people that attended:
Aaron & his G/F Lauren
Brad
Hank
Adam (and mom, and two friends of my mom)
Kent
Albert
Frank & his friend (Eddie?)
Chris & his wife Christine, and Bob (dad)
LJ and his wife (Dee???)
David (DZ)
David (Dkumpula)
David (CountFunkula) and Sarah
Ward (from AVI)
Aron (Bacs)
Oh yeah, and the homeless dude who was handing out the panhandling fliers too...
So it ended up being a pretty good turnout! Let's do this again sometime.
Adam
Almost forgot: For those of you who could not attend FLEM and thus missed out on all the goodies we had for sale from the huge lot of laser equipment that was recently rescued from a storage unit, there are lots and lots of parts listed in the for-sale area.
George has started a thread with the most popular items listed, but feel free to send him a PM if you are looking for something specific and he will see what he can find for you.
Here's the link to the thread: http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...emagic)-Lasers
