    Default fog machine pump

well i was at a thrift store and found a 400 watt fog machine but it had no fluid so i could not test it, got fluid today and found the thing is @#$% up, thermal fuse to the heater was i open so i bypassed it for testing, then when it got up to temp i hit the remote and nothing, the pump is cooked and literally shorted, is this an item that can be found? or should i return the gallon of fluid and cut my losses or keep the fluid and rig it with an external pump? that and will a store refund a container that's been opened or keep the stuff and just buy another machine.
if i do use an external pump what kind of pressure do i need to have?

I have seen guys use a windshield washer fluid pump with a simple ball check-valve between the pump and the heating element. Of course though, you'll have to put a 12v xformer and rectifier or an ac/dc PSU in to power the pump. probably too expensive for a little fogger though.

Replacement fog machine pumps are available for between $15 and $40, depending on capacity. I know Full Compass sells several different types:

Why waste money on an old broken 400w fogger. You could almost buy a new one for the cost it would take buy a pump.

Cheap fog machines usually run $40 or better. If you can replace the pump for $15, I'd say go for it.

Maybe. He probably invested some at the thrift store. Add some tax or shipping to the pump and he probably has put in $25 for a fog machine worth $15 more and has no warranty and maybe even the heater is on its last legs.

the heater seems to work, but i will drive to the store next week and see what they have, i would rather spend 25 on a pump but i see what they have and maby try the windshield washer pump that i already have and located, since i am on a very tight budget i want to go the cheapist route, i will try the windshield pump and see how that goes, i have 8 bucks invested in the pump it's self

all i know is this sucks
