I have a time code reader box for that sort of thing, an East Coast Control Systems Aquila. You record SMPTE time code as one of your Audio Tracks on the video machine .. The Aquila will talk to the PC via a serial to USB adapter and Showtime (And probably Beyond) will sync the laser to the movie.. Pangolin sells an SMPTE decoder as well...

Good to know- thanks. If you know of any examples of for such an installation (movie + laser synced) do share.
i have also done the sync the other way i use phoenix but any laser software will work or ADAT/WAV basically use resolume for the video playback it will use one of the audio inputs to sync to sympte and the link below will create a sympte wav with some options (fps,offset ,length etc)
