Anybody previously wanting to vote for Trump because of his "not a politician" BS or because they don't like Hillary really need to take a look at his VP choice.

Pence is a BIGOT and a ZEALOT. He is the poster boy douche nozzle for extreme conservatism. He wants to undo the constitution and take away Americans rights.

To me this shows Trumps true colors. Trump is using his pop culture status and money to "play games" with us. He will do/say anything to become president. Don't buy into this reality show BS!

I know one thing, when a politician moves their lips, you know they are lying.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

A conservative nominee chooses a conservative as his vp. Nothing unusual here, what were you expecting? A liberal? Or perhaps another outsider? Seriously?

Let's for a moment not consider right off the bat that Trump is pulling a public stunt for a year, okay? Lets assume he actually wants to change something about the system for everyone, you as well. Lets assume he actually wasted about a year not enjoying his maybe last years of his life of a billionaire and wasted it on hundreds of rallies, speeches, etc. Then we have people who disbelieve everything he says and complain about literally everything. I'm sorry, but if you assume this for a moment, you do realize he is your only bet you are ever going to have for a change. Nobody can be a conservative and liberal and please everyone at once, nobody can run as independent and get anywhere, nobody can run as president unless he has millions to spend, nobody can win if he doesn't negotiate with the party he represents, this is just facts. You wanted change, here it is. There is zero evidence that this is all fake. Is it possible? Yes, but is this honestly all it takes to make you believe that? If you are going to complain that the person is not the exact person of your dreams and are going to call these kind of people liars as well then I'm sorry, I don't think you deserve a good president. Nor do you want a good president, heck, I don't think you people even know what you want. Your expectations are impossible to be met by anyone, real person or hypothetical one. If Trump does end up losing to Hillary which is pretty likely with this attitude from the population, I think nobody in the future who will have what it takes to try this himself or herself will bother, we don't deserve his time and he frankly doesn't owe us shit. Such people have enough money (power) to have a comfortable and peaceful life for themselves and their family, the rest of us can go and earn it ourselves because we clearly don't want their help.

it's important to not always assume change is better than status quo.

i see nothing positive or hopeful in what Trump is attempting to bring to the table. only lowbrow xenophobia, hate, intolerance, and some half baked ideals to benefit himself and others like him. he's riding the crest of hate and fear that the conservatives have been fulminating for decades. it's caught up to them. they've manufactured a candidate that many of them cannot stand, but they endorse blindly for the "good of the party" instead of considering the country and the world.

i want us to be better than that. i want america to be better than that

    What xenophobia?
    What intolerance?
All it takes is to repeat the same lie over and over again until we believe it to be true.
I honestly think it would be best for him to not win. We seriously don't deserve him and he should spend his late years with his family.

he's riding the crest of hate and fear that the conservatives have been fulminating for decades.
Again, what hate? What fear? Pointing out facts is not hate. Mentioned something scary is not creating fear. 80 people died just today, that by itself makes me scared, someone mentioning it is not the problem.

Don't we all? The question is how. I don't think we the general population don't have the slightest idea how, and the sad part is I think we could if we wanted to, therefore we don't deserve something better.

I'll tell you how we could do better. We need statesmen, not politicians. Give me another Eisenhower, or another Kennedy. But don't make me choose the lesser of two evils, which has been the case for many years now.

Part of the problem is our 2-party system with first-past-the-post voting. In such a system, you need to campaign far to the right or left in order to secure the party's nomination, but then you have to try to pull back towards the center to garner the popular vote in the general election. This system is broken.

A move to range voting - or even instant run-off - would be vastly superior to what we have now. But effecting a change like that is just about impossible in today's political climate. So we're stuck with the current shit-show.

As for me, my money is on "Giant Killer Asteroid" for 2016. Just get it over already. (And as an aside, moving to New Zealand is starting to look like a damned fine alternative. Now if only I could afford to do that...)

Utila is undoubtedly cheaper. (Speaking of which.....)

I can't move to Utila right now... Their health care system is not adequate for Marie's needs. Can't justify flying back to the States just for a doctor's visit!

Barring that, I would consider Utila though. (And unlike New Zealand, I could probably afford to move to Utila!) But let's be real: I'm not going anywhere just yet. (All bets are off in 15 years though...)
