Both Trump and Hillary do not appear to be good choices, but I really have a great amount of distain for the Clinton's, both of them.

    Lightbulb Power Corrupts, and...

Meh, perhaps my views are 'too radical' for this venue, so.. [REDACTED] Que sera, sera... Nonetheless, I still hold this to be true / self-evident:

    Truth!

I still can't stand Al Gore (for many reasons, not the least of which is that he maintains a heated swimming pool at his residence in Nashville that burns more natural gas in a month than your typical home uses in a year, or that he uses 20 times more electricity than the average home, yet still preaches conservation), but he *was* right about a key aspect of global warming. It is merely "inconvenient" for the moment, and that's why so little is being done. Measures taken now will not have a measurable effect until well past the next election cycle, and most politicians don't think that far out. (Which is why Social Security still hasn't been fixed either.)

You can't really blame global warming on someone who isn't even in office.
Agreed! Though honestly I feel that neither Trump nor Hillary would make Global Warming a priority... Truthfully though Global Warming wasn't a litmus test for me for this election anyway.

Until countries like China clean up there mess it doesn't matter what USA is doing.
Would it surprise you to learn that China currently leads the world in installed solar generating capacity *AND* leads the world in current expansion of solar capacity? 3 years ago they were third, behind Germany and Italy (USA was #4), but late last year they took the lead, and they show no signs of slowing down. Sure, they still use a lot of coal, but they know that causes problems (Bejing Olympics taught them that!) and they are sinking serious money into renewable energy. Way, way more than anyone else.

China may not be very green right now, but in 10 years I think you'll see an amazing difference.

His unscientific and reckless views on the issue could bring about disaster.
TBH global warming would be the least of my worries with a president who reportedly and allegedly (although denied) thinks we should be using nuclear weapons as they're a waste of money if unused. A potential 20,000 degrees celcius rise is a lot more worrying than a 2 degree rise, although both are serious in their own ways.

Just diverting off the presidential campaign for a moment, what America's needed for a long time is a president willing to stand up to the people and start prescribing some of the change necessary to reduce emissions and warming, such as the compulsory use of green energy sources for companies eg solar panels on roofs, new standards for new build housing eg fitment of panels as standard, minimum standards of loft, wall and floor insulation as standard (depending on the state of course - no good having 500mm insulation wall in Hawaii!), a ban on the sale of large engined inefficient cars, efficiency standards for heating systems, appliances etc such as in the EU etc.

To mention just some of the changes in the UK, petrol cars (even suv's) with 1.4 turbo engines that manage 40+mpg urban and around 120g / km co2 are now becoming quite common place eg: http://www.suzuki.co.uk/cars/cars/ne...ra-s/tech-spec. (Click on "performance and economy" for an example). In a country the size of America with all it's cars, even a small change to efficient new cars could make a huge change to CO2 emissions.

Things move fast. Just checked the Wikipedia entry for the movie "Idiocracy" which now states:

"Idiocracy unexpectedly became a documentary when the Idiotic Singularity happened on the day of November 8, 2016."

I was really hoping this would happen, but not actually expecting it. 'Republican' president, republican house and Republican senate. I'm ready for the next 4 years!

Protecting the supreme Court was most important to me, although anyone who has me on fb knows I've been a supporter since he announced almost 18 months ago.

Can't wait to see how this gets "spun". Why wasn't this predicted? Unpolled surge of first time white voters (my guess)? Blacks didn't turn out? All this was skewed by the liberal media the entire time and it was much closer than we were led to believe?

I went to his rally in Orlando last week. Really inspiring to see him live

I hope you've all got bomb shelters because Republicanism is of little use if it all kicks off.

Like I said, I know nothing of US politics ie Republicans vs Democrats. What I do know is you now have what I would regard personally from what I've heard, as a very dangerous and potentially reckless president with regards to nukes, with a very dangerous opponent on the other side who also reportedly believes you can use nukes, thereby negating the whole MAD deterrence.

    Couple of interesting articles:

Russia was preparing to use nukes in Crimea if the US intervened: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...-10109615.html

Russia's overall reported strategy and attitude: http://time.com/4280169/russia-nuclear-security-summit/

I think we've just entered the most dangerous time since the Cuban crisis. I'd take a president with scandal over a possible itchy trigger finger any day.

That aside, isn't the world is also stuffed from an eco point of view because wasn't one of his pledges to abandon all climate controls?

I have a feeling those who voted for him may regret it. The future as I see it from an external pov is for a government which could possibly start WW3, looks after the rich and potentially screws the planet and every other sector of society. They say it's Americas Brexit, but Brexit is very different as May is promising more help for the poor and more equality. From what I've heard, rightly or wrongly, it appears Trump favours the opposite.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.
