As for the claim that religion and politics are a personal thing, there I disagree. We have a Muslim caliphate evolving in the Middle East and threatening Europe. We have a quarter of the US economy swallowed by government and the US economy is being further threatened by aggressive trade practices from China that is in part funding the build up of a huge and increasingly expansionist Chinese military presence in the Pacific.

These are just a few high points. The ramifications of religion and politics are anything but personal and are extremely important. I find them very interesting as well.
