Chris, that looks like a challenging race course! I predict lots of broken props before it's all over. (I can see myself screaming past the 3rd pylon and not being able to slow down fast enough to avoid slamming into the trees!) Still, it looks like it will be tons of fun!

Regarding the messaging app, hopefully we will have a definitive selection soon so people can have time to download and play with it before the event. I think we'll probably have a few people designated as "moderators" who will make the announcements based on how closely we are adhering to the schedule.

Does anyone else have a logo submission they'd like to share? Still looking for one that will work well with an embroidered shirt.

    6 weeks and counting!

It was just a concept I came up with. I didn't think it was too difficult. I can simplify it if you think it's too much.
Your just lucky I didn't put any gates in or pylons to fly between. Now that is where it starts to get difficult.

Turn 3 can be moved closer to the center of the field if you think it is too close to the trees. I estimated it was 30-50 ft away though. I felt it needed a hair pin turn.

I love the idea of night flying and bringing out the lasers. Maybe we can get someone to scan a start finish line on the ground. I've flown at night before but never FPV or raced.

    Chris;

No, I think the course will be fine. A challenging course will probably make for more laughs! I've got plenty of spare props, so I don't mind crashing.

I do think it would be a good idea for everyone to walk the course first though, just so they can see where the trouble spots will be. I don't mind hitting the ground and breaking a prop, but I'd hate to slam into a tree and break off a motor arm or crack the frame!

Really looking forward to this though! Can't wait to try it out...

IIRC I have terrible coverage in most of the venue so not sure how well this would work out, would be a good idea though

Maybe we think about setting up our one on-site private wi-fi network in each building. Would the school let us tap their Internet drop?

The venue has Wi-Fi, and we can access that. Don't know about the school though - I don't remember seeing any jacks in the cafeteria or the Gym. As for the Auditorium, there might be some wired jacks backstage, but typically we've just made do with the Wi-Fi.

    What are you thinking about?

Just responding to flecom saying that cellular reception isn't very good for some people, so to alleviate that, we can either set up our own local wifi network, or use the school's if it's available and covers all three venue areas.

If we can't use the school's wi-fi network, perhaps we can set up three wi-fi routers (one in each location) and tie those into the schools hardwired network, so our wi-fi traffic doesn't interfere with theirs, but people can still get online via wi-fi instead of the cellular network. But maybe that's too much work to tack on to setup and tear down.

4 weeks and a day before SELEM. I could probably have gotten everything ready in time if I had 4 weeks and 2 days...

I was just thinking about the fact that in four weeks, I'll be stressed, trying to get stuff packed in the van, tying up loose ends at work, and attempting to get on the road at a reasonable hour. I only have one laser show between now and then so I think I can start staging stuff after the 22nd. Got a larger van with a raised top so hopefully I won't have to work packing like a Tetris puzzle.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
