Default Anybody bought one of these?

If you're on Facebook you've no doubt been bombarded with ads for the Shadowhawk X800 Tactical flashlight. http://www.shadowhawkpromo.com/promo...OXZRoCZMvw_wcB
    .
I've thought about it and read about it a bit but, sometimes this sort of advertising makes this sound larger than life when in reality, the product isn't all it's cracked up to be. $60 for a flashlight is probably a bit steep although a number of other good quality flashlights aren't cheap either. Anyone of you other gizmo addicts bite the bullet and get one? Thoughts?

The device uses one led. The brightest single led in the world are not able to produce enough light to do what the pictures shows. I have a china flashlight that was usd7 freight incl using the same principle. Good tool, but not even close to the result shown in the picture. Back about 20 years ago, one buddy of mine had a small one with crypton bulb. That was insanely bright for the time, but the batteries lasted for a few minutes only. Have not seen any led based producing same amount of light.

Is it worth the money - not likely, as you can get 10pcs doing mostly the same from China.
If you want to support US and the local industry - perhaps its a good idea spending the money, just as a patriot.

ping craig (csshih) if you're interested in awesome LED flashlights. if he doesn't carry what you're looking for, he'll give you honest recommendations.
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

I would have to agree Datsurb, i think the pictures are well "enhanced" and the bottom picture looks like it's totally fake, i collect flash lights and have ones from both SureFire L2 as my main carry flash light for about 10 years now and have a StreamLight Pro Tac HL that was about 90 bucks and has served me very well over the few years that i have owned it and would go with that over the shadowhawk in every way that i can think of, if your going to get a really good flash light that will literally last over a decade of hard use go with Stream Light or SureFire, my L2 was 190 bucks when it came out but it was one of the first high lumen led flash lights of it's era and has a lifetime warranty. there are a lot of lower cost led flashlights out now that use Cree made leds and have found them to be more reliable then the bodies they some times come in. this is my latest one http://www.ebay.com/itm/121811582088...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT i doubt it's even close to the claimed output but it's still damn bright for a sub 20 dolor flashlight, the down side is the 18650 batteries are hard to find locally so i carry spares with me when away from my lair, also to note the other flashlights i have use CR123 batteries and buy the SureFire or StreamLight branded batteries, they are much cheaper then say duraleak.. sorry durasmell,, hmm duracell, and Lowe's carries the Sure Fire batteries that are cost competitive with good quality AA batteries

http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/forum.php is another great forum for flashlights and just as lasers once that bug bites, your infected and the first symptoms are an empty bank account and vintage flash lights laying all over the place, I even had a MaxaBeam till some damn human stole it from my lair, that was a 900 dolor short arc xenon search light, but being the "good" dragon that i am i did not set fire to the closest town but i did call the cops. The first Jurassic park movie featured the MaxaBeam, they are in quite a few movies even to this day

Thanks! I suspected that these were the sort of answers I would expect but figured I should ask. I'm not so much in the market for a good flashlight but, wanted to know if this lived up to or was even close to the hype. If it did, I would have given it some consideration.

    Lightbulb .02...

    Heya Chief -

Well, *certainly* don't pay 'Shadowhawk' their 300-whatever% markup... See: http://www.amazon.com/Lumens-Zoomabl...ilpage_o03_s00

..I got one of those from that seller, and Yeah, they're a Good light.. About as bright as any of the other Cree's in that W-class, but.. The thing that is nice about This one, is the output is really nice and 'clean' / even, and a nice 'wide-field', when all the way In..

..When you snorkel it in to a 'tight beam', it's still nice and clean / clear.. I am sure there are 'brighter / better' ones out there, but.. it's a decent light.. (especially for $10.89 or whatever..

    Fwiw..
