Default Need some advices on the ScannerMax Compact-506

Hi all, a new comer to the forum I am planning to get the ScannerMax Compact-506, read a bit on the driver and seems most are using Kvant driver, or modified DT-40 driver, wonder any other option besides these option?

And, I wish to know the comparison of ScannerMax Compact-506 and EMS-8000, which one is better? And is it a large differences for ScannerMax Compact-506 vs CT-6215HP?

    Thanks!

Compared to the CT-6215HPs, no the Compact 506s are not in that class. The CT-6215HPs are solid 60kpps 8° scanners (dependent upon amps) whereas the 506s are an ultra solid 30kpps scanner set. The 506s can go faster, I think Bill from ScannerMax has had them up to 50kpps but that depends largely on the amps. The 506s run cooler than any other scanner out there and I would dare say they are more stable. There are several companies that are building amps for them and soon, they will have their own dedicated amp. I own three sets of 506s, all with different amps and I would recommend them over any other 30~40k scanner set. Compared to the EMS-8000 or the CT-6215HPs, you can't beat the 506s on price. The footprint of a 506 set is also really tiny making them ideal for micro builds.

Thanks for the advice, already get one for testing
Would like to see more advices from the EMS-8000 as well, and I just notice that DT-40w is launched. I asked the advices from Goldenlaser and they are testing it as well, wonder if there any testing result coming out...

I have 3 sets of EMS 8000 and they perform just amazingly for their price. I make lots of graphics display and I set always the scan speed at 55k at angles such 30-40° and result is close to perfect.

Can't compare with scannermax as I haven't one atm, though I would be interested to get my hands on one of those Saturn series of Scannermax. But unfortunately now the only way to get one is to buy a whole projector as they aren't available as oem part..

    Hi Honhim,

Send me a PM or email me at the address below about your C506 needs. Depending on the aperture, we have a few options to get you up and running pretty quickly with a set of drivers... these are available in apertures from 3mm to 10mm
