Default Compact 506 with DT Mod or Kvant??

    Hey guys,

Looking to get some 506's and have been reading about them being run DT moded amps. Im not sure wether to get them with the kvant or a DT mod. Seems like a few people have dt mods and run them fine at 30K. But they apparently can run at 50k aswell. Has anyone tried this and had much success?

If you want the best performance, do the DT amp mod.

I own the first 4 sets of modified DT boards that Bill did for me (its mine in the picture in the mods pdf that Pangolin produced) and I have some tuned for 30k and some at 50k (so that I could test them back to back)
The 50k are 'marginally' better at 50k than the 30k tuned ones, but there's very little to choose between them.

I run them variously between 25k and 50k. The tuning doesn't really dictate the speed to you run them at.

In case you weren't already aware, the DT30 and DT40 amps are identical so if you're buying new just for the boards, buy the DT30's

Depends on what mirrors you want to use.

5mm aperture and larger needs a notch filter which has to be tuned here at Pangolin with DT40 amps.

The best way to get C506's right now as a turn key system is to get a set with the Kvant amp if you want 3mm or 4mm aperture

Alex Hay makes a great amp to drive the 5mm, 8mm and 10mm sets as well. These need a notch filter which the Kvant does not have.

Both of these amps are compatible with our "AW50" coil configuration, which gives a bit better performance.

The DT40 systems have to use the standard/original coil configuration, while still good, can't be driven as hard as the AW50 scanners that the Kvant/Alex Hay drivers use.

Feel free to shoot me an email with any other questions!

The LFI / Alex Hay amp is really pretty nice. He delivered a few sets to us for testing, Bill made some small mods/recommendations and they really work great with our larger mirror sets (5mm, 8mm, 10mm). Alex can tune the notch filter also.

If people go this route, the scanners are purchased from Pangolin and we ship to Alex, he will match with a driver and apply the tuning, and deliver the scanners and amps and cables to the final destination.

Hey guys thanks for your input its made my decision a bit easier. Due to having very limited experience and only a slight performance gain i think will go down the kvant/Alex Hay route. Im not sure what size mirrors i will need though. I'll post the diodes specs later. Thanks heaps ☺

    Hi.
Please, indicate where you can find information or link to LFI amplifier for Compact C506?
I am interested in a set with mirrors for beam 5mm.

It's on this page, although, I think you'll need to contact LFI directly.
