One last question before getting few. Is there any disadvantage compred to getting 4x cylindrical lenses? I magine I can get the same magnification as 4x lenses by using a different offset. Is this correct or not quite?

You can get the same magnification by spacing the lenses as a pair further from the diode and using the diodes divergence to allow the beam to increase in diameter before it hits the cylinders.
