Large lens on ebay, anyone care to guess what this thing was made for?

I found this item on ebay, anyone care to guess what it was originally made for? Look at that coating, I'm wondering if likely VIS or IR? The objective lens is about 6 inches diameter. It also has Hughes Aircraft on a property label

Found EO/NV means Electro-Optics Night Vision.

I would guess it's a FLIR lens.

I hope not, I don't need 8 to 12 um. I've yet to receive it, but the seller says they can see through the coating, I don't believe anything can be viewed through a FLIR lens with the naked eye.

... my NIR optics and beam-expanders for 1070nm have this sort of "yellowish" coating too and are transparent for VIS, so I can see through ...

Yea, I'd change my name here to that too, just never wanted to bug anyone to do so. I have a jetlasers beam expander for VIS with the same gold colored tinted AR on it too... I could use this thing whether VIS or IR, but only if Near-IR.
