Old Soviet MVL technology connected with new internet marketing by a new university technology licensing staff. Its old, made new again. Trust me.
A similar version using a xenon Mid IR laser was developed for use on US ships.
There was even a mixed metal "White" MVL before, and this research is a continuation of that.

The US Military has used some interesting low power laser landing systems for years, which is one of the reasons HENEs other then red were developed.

The Tomsk laser is more important for what the MID IR could do with Tissue in surgery.
