Something like this, a 'C' arm - with it rotated as in the pic, it can hang from a truss, rotate it below the laser, and it can mount to a spigot on the top of a push up/ winch up stand..

i have thought about a c arm upside down, but my box is pretty heavy, being made of wood.

but i just have a poll so i wanted something i can just drop onto the poll and be able to adjust height

my buddy has a set up that would work.
no pics but he simply used a pipe fixture, cast aluminum flat plate with a receiving socket, and bolted it to a square of plywood and it sits right on top of his tripod(pole)stand.
if you can find one with a set screw it will help.
this way the laser is not hanging at all but resting flat on top of the plywood square.

then something to hold it in place.
my buddy uses a bungee but something more discrete could be employed.

just a side note he used a junction box for an enclosure.
    i thought this was genius.
ready made with a swing oped lid.
the appeture is actually one of the "plugs" punched out.
