Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself because I'm going to be asking a $H!T load of questions in the beginning. I got my first He-Ne laser tube at 10 years old. When I powered that thing up I didn't have any clue what 1mW was so I put bricks on both ends! ( I had no idea which side was going to be the output.) Ever since then I have been hooked with anything to do with lasers. From there I purchased many different He-Ne tubes, heads and power supply’s. My first laser light show was some mirrors glued to some speaker coils; I actually figured that one out on my own! The next attempt was a pair of MFE open loop galvos I pulled from ECG machines out of the garbage. They were fun for many years. At the age of 14 I put together a ruby laser constructed from M60 tank rangefinder parts and a 50 cal ammo box. You can check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBZOZBzdLZ0
Since then I've owned and experimented with ALC 60X argon heads, pulsed and CW YAG lasers. (My latest project is a 150W CW arc lamp pumped YAG laser I'm going to frequency double.) I also have a few 532nm DPSS lasers. One of them I'm constructing from parts should output 350mW+ when it's done.
Now to present time..... Just the other day I received a set of galvos, drivers and power supply purchased on Ebay from Dave on this website…… The Laser Light Show bug has bit me again! It’s a decent 20KPPS set with a program board, and boy is it FUN! I have also constructed this guys http://24.202.226.162:81/ DAC kit and have been playing around with his software and ILDA files I have found on the internet.
Well, now I’m ready to go to the next step. Faster galvos, better drivers, better software, multi colors, ect. I can’t wait to start conversations with experts on this subject! It should be good times for all!
Thanks!
Adam
