    Default New laser software: Moncha!

Specially made for using your laser LIVE !!
This is what we can use during a live performance: a screen full of ready made scenes. Just click on it and it's beamed by the laser.
The software comes with a USB controller and has a 16 bit X-Y resolution. (who can do this too???)

    Other thinks:

-more than 200 effects, 40 animations and 40 company logos included
-scrolling text using standard Windows fonts (TTF)
-simple, but powerful interface for creating interesting effects
-10 banks (up to 400 effects available in one workspace)
    -autopilot mode (perfect for parties)
    -import of ILDA frames possible
    -proffesional drawing software included (MonchaDraw)
-able to play ILDA shows synchronized to music
    -maximal scanrate: 30000 pps
    -standard ILDA output
    -16 bit X and Y output resolution
-3 color channels - more than 16 million colors
-Windows 2000/XP/XP64Bit/Vista/Vista64bit compatilbe USB controller included

I just purchased this DAC and software and will be reporting on it and giving a review once I receive it and have time to kick the tires.

The thing that sold me on it is that the people developing it are very supportive of my hobby and they said they will provide me with an API that can be used with .NET. Since my homebrew laser software is written in .NET this is good news for me.

Good luck man... and don't forget the pictures... Are you going to try to use your software as a plugin to theirs of vice versa?

I am going to use their DAC with my software, hopefully. They include software but it seems more suited to simple live stuff that a DJ would use... preprogrammed patterns, logos, etc. It does offer some kind of show playback but I am not sure to what level. They have a different package aimed at show producers but it costs more.

I'll definitely post more when I get it.

You can test new Moncha 2.0 version(even it's still beta) at http://www.showtacle.com/MonchaBeta.zip. New feature - timeline added. You can now create also music-synchronized shows(wav, mp3).

I use the Moncha package and it works fine for me. I could review it but it's probably more informative for you to just download the fully functioning demo and try it out. Actually, it isn't demo software, it is the real software.

One really cool thing is that it comes with a really nice Drawing package that you can use to create ILDA frames. All for free.

Another thing I really like about Moncha is that the company really listens to its customers. For instance, some of the features in the new 2.0 version release (timeline, color mixing) are actually things that I asked for.

I think the asking price is around $600 but there may be deals to be had if you talk to them about it. Not guarenteeing anything, though.
