I've been busy making a bunch of new cues and I just stumbled on an issue I can't figure out. The current cue is a simple beat based pattern that uses 4 discrete steps and it works just fine. The problem is when I try to add a color effect that responds to those same 4 discrete steps. The idea is essentially to have step 1 be red, step two be green, step 3 be blue and so forth, cycling through RGB as the pattern cycles through its own steps. The color effect is set to "beat based" but even still it's not behaving the way I was expecting it to. Normal beat based effects have a maximum adjustable "speed" of 16 beats, at which the pattern will move slower than if it were set to 1 beat. With the color effect it has a maximum adjustable speed of 200, much like a time based effect and the higher the number the faster the colors change. How then is this beat based? I can't figure out the correlation between the speed adjustment and the beat response. The color effect doesn't seem to behave the same as other geometric effects. Anyone have any insight? By the way, I'm using Beyond 2.1 build 834 with FB3.
Edit: I did just notice that in my list of active effects being applied to the cue each of them has the metronome symbol next to them except for the color effect. Perhaps this effect does not have true beat based functionality like the other effects? Seems weird that you can switch the speed slider within the effect to either the metronome for beat based or the clock for time based if it doesn't actually respond to beats. I'm probably missing something but it's evading me. I have looked in the effect properties and the effect "action" menus but I still haven't found anything that fixes the issue, then again, I don't really know how to apply anything in those menus anyway..
