    Default Hi everybody!

Happy to be here, I'm a bit of a push over for the 450nm through 465nm lasers so that's where you will find me most often!

I have one account here as i did at LPF !

And that ceiling fan is in the dumpster now, Do you still want a picture of the under side of the blades ???

BUT this is my latest results from my new home made beam expander that ElectricPlasma 3D printed for me, NEW RECORD ! At 50 feet the beam spot size is only 6mm x 5mm !!! YES you read that right AT 50 feet the spot size only 6mm x 5mm from a NUBM44-81 450nm Laser Diode, Let see anyone match that OR even come close to that with a 44 !

To give you some idea just how far 50 feet really is here's a pic of how far 50 feet is at my house which is from the gate to the back yard all the way to the back wall !

What is you ratio for the expander? What is the beam size at aperture for a scanner. I.e. Like 6" or so offthe expander? That's some expansion to do that. Nice. Not that I'd want to burn anything but it could make for some really bright beams outside in red. Would like to see some beam shots.

I have no idea who you are so no beef here.

I would have to say it's close to a 5X expander, The input beam is around 7mm x 5mm Output Beam is around 32mm x 29mm.......

The NUBM44-81 diode has been a handful to get the fast axis close to the slow axis so to start with a 6X cylindrical lens pair on the fast axis was a must....

And for the HM beam expander i had disassembled a half dozen 35mm camera lens i had kicking around for a long time plus i tore down a pair of sharper imagine binoculars and from there i just started trying different combo's of lenses.....

And i settled on a double concave diverting lens that expanded the beam to this.....

and then tried a lot of diff converging lenses and got ok results...

But i wanted better than that and i finely found if i used one of the sharper imagine binoculars output lenses at a longer F/L i could expand the beam a lot and that was a break though i was looking for !

Nice job. If only it was the same size at aperture! Damn universe physics! Like the heat sink.
