... some more "DIY" -- To connect the ends of the armoured hose "more professionally looking", I turned off two aluminium sleeves - an M6 sleeve at the entrance end and an M5 sleeve at the other end ...

... here one of my methodes for polishing the fiber ends - found a round piece of POM (Delrin), tapped with M5 ... here with thinserted and fixed fiber-holder for the exit end (without fiber, only for testing) ... after grinding test ... and while polishing -- works better, than comercial metal polishing pucks!

...sorry, someway remote in distance ... but on Saturday I'm on a "Laserfreak.net"-event near Nuremberg
Here some bad and some good results for the "DIY-high-power" fiber - it seems, the used 2K-glue was too close in optical parameters to the glass core -- so caught too much of the energy and had to evaporate completely around the fiber, before the laser light could emit straight forward, instead of heating the end

Wait... You're not actually etching the glass, are you?
Surely this is etching the back surface which is plated with metal, or plastic, or something like that, right? So you're etching that plated material?
If you're actually etching the glass itself, how are you not causing any damage to the front face at the same time?

Hi Adam,
the glass (even the dark tinted glass-tiles) are transparent enough for the 1064nm ... did the same with blue 455nm diodes and glass and acrylic too
And the focus is on the back-side, so even some dust on the surface won't burn in an crack it

PS: - did the same last year with smaller surface coated glass tiles - here, it with a first pass evaporated the coating, and only in the second pass engraved the back side ...
