... I am optimizing the setup for marking 150mm steel rulers (this is/was a forum action in "Peter's CNC-Ecke").

Here the video of the 2nd test -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DENh...ature=youtu.be

And the results so far (the steel ruler is still from the last action).

... today (from me more tonight) I'm "virtually" in the US as booth companion, where we talk via video chat with the people ... but have no suitable name tag

But wait! -- for what do you have a galvo marker and some 0.3mm spring steel lounging around?

Here the video of engraving the name tag (the cutting was then also only about 20-30x times slowly engraving the contour):

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJNx...ature=youtu.be

    And attached the result ...

... tried to engrave a brass medal - here the first side with a pirate tag -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSrUTRop-2Y

    - and, because a medal has 2 sides, on the back side my "beloved" Aztec tag -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSvA7fYMrbU

It's the first time I engrave round parts with this build and I see that the output is not quite round and symmetrical - I have to optimize the correction file a bit ...

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

...my youngest needed a round scale for his power supply setup -- took a while until he thought to ask me

The scale mustn't look "new" - so we searched around a bit until we found a round steel disc and some "grey-black" stove paint (I could have engraved and cut something out of sheet steel or anodized aluminum for him - but he didn't want to).

Constructed the scale in Corel, exported as DXF and engraved with the 30Watt fiber laser at about 30% power:

... got a 3D-printed "camera-slider", whats sturdy enough to work as Z-axis for my next laser-project ... so it will give a XYZ-system with 500x500x80mm and one or 2 of the IR-laserdiodes shown in the attached image.

The left one is a 200W@975nm-type still with the FSMA fiber-connector, the right is a 270W-type, FSMA removed and a focussing lens attached (50mm FL, 0,2mm spot).

They will work either alone/single for cutting+engraving, or 2 together in a "V-shaped" arrangement on a spot of 0,3mm for welding or "additive manufacturing" with metal wires (same as with FDM-3D-printing, but for fusing/welding the wire-tip directly onto the surface) ...

... I've ordered an 30Watt-MOPA-M7 fiberlaser with variable pulse-length in exchange for my actual 30Watt with "fixed" pulselength -- while the actual can only generate pulses with 200ns (wwats too long for my actual project), the MOPA-M7 can vary between 2ns-350ns.

Here the box, that came yesterday - and a graph for the pulselengths ... hope to get them exchanged tomorrow, so I can calibrate it and perform some tests

... here a video, what's possible with an 8x4.5W-block with blue 4.5W-laserdiodes in a DIY-setup -- roughly 35 Watts on a spot of 0,3mm size ... in the video the "mirror-cut"-arrangement far-field visible on the wall:

Attached the datasheet of the 8x-block and the single laserdiode ...
