... my sister wanted it in 65mm diameter - same size, as the first two.

The images - 1.while laserengraving -- 2. ready, with another "medium sized" 40mm, but not sanded this time ...

... here some more images of opened 808nm-diodes - the smaller one is a "single-bar" 25W@808nm FAP-diode with SMA-connector meant for "end-pumping" of NdYAG-rods, the bigger one with the "window" is meant for side-pumping.

... received two Rofin 200W@976nm-diodes, meant for pumping of fiber-lasers or for "direct material processing".

Will use them for laser-brazing or "preheating" for laser-welding and AM development

... my current CNC milling machine EP1090 has only 200x200x120mm working space ... how do I get a 260x130mm plate milled from it?

For the sake of simplicity I designed it symmetrically with 130x130mm, milled it earlier and predrilled it with 3mm (I'll finish the holes and countersinks tomorrow at my father's drill rig).

Attached images: Clamping #1, #2 and ready ... placing test empty (#3) and with two of the 200W-diodes (#4) ...

Then there was a "moment of shock" when the CAM software "forgot" 2 lines and the cutter swooped from the last "safe" position through the material 8mm into the deep!!

But it put it away quite well - no step losses and even the chatter marks are less than with my previous Isel-FB2 - image #5

... "Resopal" is a pretty much useful material too - laser-engraved and -cut some logos from a white coated sheet with the 20Watt marking laser

... wanted to test finest possible details with the "Resopal" material - on the left side, only 1 pass, still in the white laminate => gives exceptional results and good stability, but only grey.

On the right side, white laminate complete removed => gives good contrast, but fine details crumble away:

... I tried a few things this morning with my "DDL"-module -- and now I don't know if I should be happy or rather cry ... or if soon people from the secret service or from the Nobel Prize Committee will ring the doorbell ...

From the previous tests I already knew that it "flashes" quite well on the tile - the attached image #2 shows of one of the previous "tile flares":

After some adjustments to the cable routing and the use of a larger filter capacitor and a choke as counter-induction, I got out some pretty good "flashes" and wanted to make a video of them.

As I start the video and trigger the first slightly longer pulse, I hear a very short "hiss" from the direction of the diode and the power supply and then the powerful bangs on the tile and also on the power supply, which was positioned about 15 centimeters behind the tile!!!

Image #1 shows the mishap - the laser pulse has shot a small hole completely through the tile!!

    - and then the display of the power supply melted down! ... (see Image #3)

Also the decoupling protection window in the diode has gotten something powerful evaporating and melting (see image #4)

The diode still seems to be working (at least it still pulses visibly on the tile, although not as violently as the "Mega-Blitz"), but I'll have to replace the protection window.

Now I'm wondering how I managed to get this "mega pulse" right at all ... and if I can reproduce that again ... and if I should follow it up at all, because it's going quite violently in the direction of "weapon development", which I've always rejected

... so, before this goes even bigger, like in some of the other forums, I'll clarify it

The "Mega-Pulse" with "Tile-Shot through" is (actually very, very sad) only a "1. April" joke with half-truths

The tile looks like this in the original - the two holes in the lower left are only about 1mm deep and it took some 100Watt pulses.

The "molten power supply display" I have also only "painted".

The burned resistors are real -- but when testing with the broken(?) switching MOSFET's it was on "permanent ON" where the resistors survived about 1 second before the resistor wire was burned away ... but, the "orange glow" out of the ceramic was really nice

... actually tested with roughly 100 Watt averaged power (PWM 200:100us with 150Watts) on the same tile - after some seconds the hole was roughly 4 mm deep (the tile is 10mm).

So either more power (the diode can be driven with 200 Watts CW or around "overpowering" to 150% - 300% with short pulses and recovering time) or pressurized air or oxygene to cut faster ...

    Here a video from the PWM-tests - https://vimeo.com/328648709

Attached an image of a "flare" and the tile after the tests ... the lens was "dusted" after this, but nothing critical - the ceramics only releases some "hot microspheres", which didn't scratch the surface and not hot enough to burn in
